About

So when did it all start?

I’ve been a photographer for the last 16 years. I started with a fully manual Canon T-60 camera using Kodak color film and went from there. My first auto-focus camera was a Minolta Maxxum SpXi. Living in northeast New Jersey allowed easy access to New York City which offered up a host of photographic opportunities. In moving to Florida, I took a serious pay cut and with a son already, we found not long after that our daughter was on the way. Money was very tight. At a cost of $10 per roll of film for purchasing and processing, I couldn’t maintain that passion. I had to sell everything. Ten years went by before I was able to purchase a digital SLR. Now I shoot with a Nikon D80 and the passion thankfully, is still there.

Did you attend school?

No. I wanted to attend school in New York, but it didn’t work out. My training was soaking up as many books and magazines as I could (and still do along with reading the personal blogs of photographers) and constantly shooting and experimenting with different techniques.

Who has influenced you?

Two strong influences in photography would be Ansel Adams and Herb Ritts. More recently, it would be photographers such as Dave Beckerman, wedding photographers Adam & Imthiaz Houseman as well as Chase Jarvis, Zack Arias, Todd Owyoung and Stephen Hunton.

Personal info?

I have been happily married to my wife Sylvia for the last 14 years. I have two beautiful children, Michael (13) and Ally (12) all three of whom often act as my assistants during photo shoots. We also have a dog. His name is Lucky. We inherited him after my mother passed away in January 2010.
